IS ALCHEMY IN FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST SATANIC?
By adminI unequivocally unequivocally love the manga and the anime of Fullmetal Alchemist, generally the alchemy part. But I was wondering, in the manga they done a lot of comments about 'the devil's work' and 'leading true to hell'. I'm a gothic follower of Jesus so I have a unequivocally open mind when it comes to these sorts of things, but I longed for to know, is alchemy satanic? I've listened of follower of Jesus alchemy and things of which inlet but the descriptions were vague.
This book is the initial time I've ever review about alchemy. I think the concepts done up for the manga have been really compeling and fasinating and they have the manga glorious to read, but have been they satanic?
Is genuine alchemy satanic?

Well the homunculus are named after the seven sins. There is Gluttony, Lust, Sloth, Greed, Pride, Wrath and Envy. (Thanks Accelerator)
When I was in grade school, and I don't know why I remember this fact but, one of my classmates complained that they were not allowed to watch 'The Smurfs' because their mother thought it was some kind of cult.
It boggles my mind how people can find offensive stuff in the most mundane things.
There was a stand-up comic that made a complaint about his dad finding racist things in the grocery store: "Why is it that you have to be coo-coo for cocoa puffs, but frosted flakes are Grrrrrreat!"
While not satanic, it is blasphemous. Imagine attempting to create life by just gathering the proper ingredients, drawing a symbol, and then imagining the final form.

Nice; I think the other two are Wrath and Envy. From what I know, alchemy is the science of turning lead into gold, and/or taking an original object and turning it into something else. I guess that maybe they just twisted alchemy's original definition a little bit to make the story more interesting, but I really don't think that alchemy is a sin. In FMA, they say a lot of bad things about alchemist's and do imply that it is satanic, but I don't think it is in real life. (I'm not 100% sure)

Real alchemy is one of the precursors to modern inorganic chemistry, and also involved philosophy. It's really more of a science, if a slightly impractical one.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alchemy, for more info. I know Hiromu Arakawa researched alchemy to death, so except for the fact that it works, I think she's given it a fairly accurate representation.
For the most part, when they mentioned 'the devil's work' etc, they were talking about human transmutation, or Father's plan for Amestris (I *think*, I keep up with the newest chapters, but I haven't read through all of it in a couple months). On the most part, the alchemy viewed as benign, and used more like a tool than a religious practice.
